The Spanish Chronicles Part 5

This is the last installment of this series. I am sad to see it come to an end, but it has been amazing to write. I love remembering all the great times that I had Spain as well as share them with all of you. Honestly, this last trip was one of my favorites, because it included a lot of amazing friends and sites. For our last adventure, we went on a day trip to Segovia.

Segovia was a two hour train ride from Alcalá de Henares. When we arrived  and walked out of the train station, we realized that we were in the middle of nowhere. Segovia’s taxi service must make a fortune, because there is no way to get from the train station to the city other than taking a taxi. They have buses, but they are small and only come every hour. Anyways, the city was so great! Upon arriving into the city, we saw the famous aqueduct, which was so cool! As we walked to the top, we saw two guys playing music. They let some of my friends play with them. It was really fun! We did an unnecessary amount of shopping. Finally, I got the jewelry I had been looking for! When I was giving up hope, we had an amazing shop that had some on sale. You can see pictures of the jewelry in the Spain souvenir post. As we were shopping, we ran into a parade. It was so interesting, because there were people in huge costumes. There were people in smaller costumes that were hitting people with broom sticks. I am sure what that means. The band that followed sounded amazing. Afterwards, we went to the castle. It was so epic! We bought tickets to go into the castle. It worked out, because we were able to get a student discount. The staircase to the top was so steep. I do not know how they walked up that back in the day, but the view was totally worth it.

Above all, I felt like I bonded with all the people that I went with. It was incredible to meet and hang out with them. In the beginning, I only knew two people when I went on the trip. By the end, we were all friends. I think that made the trip successful. We all clicked very well and wanted to hang out and spend time together. They made my time there so memorable. I will never forget all the fun things we did and said.

If you are thinking about doing a study abroad trip, I would highly recommend. There is nothing better than the experience that you receive from being there. If you get the option to do a home stay or stay in dorms, I would suggest doing a home stay. It makes all the difference. It might be hard to adjust. The family that my best friend, Madeline, and I stayed with did not speak any English. We had a little bit of a language barrier, but I think we really bonded. It made the experience authentic. TRAVEL THE WORLD, because it will give you a better perspective of the people and environment around you.
