Hello, welcome back to my site. One of my favorite things to do in the retail industry is new store openings. When the opportunity arise to help re-open a store in my district, I volunteered to go. Also, this was a cool experience because it was my first time in Grand Junction, CO. It ended up being a great time. Let’s get into it.
To begin, they had a couple of merchandising leaders as well as store leaders come to help re-open the store. Since there was snow in the forecast, the company flew us to Grand Junction. It was stunning looking out the window at all of the mountains. I attached a picture below. While we were there, we shared a rental car. We were there for 4 days. I got to room with Rachel, who is a store leader in our district. This was my first time meeting her and we clicked instantly. Honestly, we started watching Monster’s Inc and the rest was history.
For this new store opening, the store was being remodeled at Mesa Mall. I did not realize that this was a college town. There is not a whole lot to do. Everything is mostly centralized in one place. Honestly, it was a unique mall. It had a JoAnn’s and Home Goods inside of the mall, which is typically rare.
For this project, I mostly worked on emptying the off-site location, which was across the mall. Then, I worked on two men’s tables, some women’s walls, and setting up the window marketing. Overall, it was nice getting to build relationships with leaders around the district as well as getting some exposure to other executives that typically are not in stores. The highlight of my life was the executive leader of NSO’s telling me that my folds were “perfect.” Below I included some photos of the scenery as well as the projects I worked on while there.
Additionally, I wanted to include a little video of the men’s table that took two days for me to finish. I worked on it after clearing what we needed from the off-site each day. It was nice getting to zone in and make it look beautiful.
