Spring Trip to West Virginia 2024

Welcome to another adventure home. My Mom, sister, and I decided to go to West Virginia for 5 days to chill and hang with the family.

What a relaxing time! We worked on a few small house projects and cleaned up. Mostly, we sat on the couch or the front porch catching up with family, playing with the baby my Aunt babysits, and watching tv. You truly never know how much you need down time until you are experiencing it. It was exactly what I needed. On my last day, my Uncle told me, “I needed to visit more often.” What perfect timing, because he is exactly right.

Although we spent most of our time relaxing, we had to schedule one activity to do. Luckily, everyone was willing to participate in this one. A couple of years ago, they created a museum in Washington D.C. centered around Black history. We still hadn’t been yet, so we decided to make that our adventure. It was Mom, Kelsey, Grandmom, Grandad, and me. We took the train to Washington D.C. to go to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Truly, it was one of the best experiences ever! There is nothing more special than getting to appreciate and learn about your culture. Especially having 3 generations at the museum, it not only made the stories come to life, but highlighted the reality that we as a culture face everyday. Even the food court embodied Black American culture. Honestly, it felt like home. If you ever have the opportunity to learn and understand Black American culture. Trust me, it is worth the time. Perception is everything. Never forget where you come from.

Thank you for checking out my post! Let me know in the comments below a museum you enjoy. I love going to museums, so I will take any suggestions of where I should go next. I hope you are having the best day. I will see you soon with something new!
