Take Back the Night 2017

During the crazy month of October, I had the opportunity to work on two amazing projects. I already told you guys about the first one, which was Sex Week. The second one is Take Back the Night.

Take Back the Night is an event that is known around the globe. It is a sexual assault awareness event that colleges and groups around the world put on every year. Each year, the program gets bigger and bigger. It’s message reaches more people educating them of the importance of sexual assault awareness.

For my entire time in college, I had the opportunity to attend this event and witness the powerful message that it gives. This year the program became even more near and dear to my heart. At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, we have a Women’s Center. The Women’s Center has a board called WISE, which  stands for Women investing in Student Empowerment. It is amazing, because they have multiply chairs that students can apply for. Whoever is awarded the position has the opportunity to create programs that they want UTC to do. My best friend, Delaney, is the gender based violence chair this year. One of her programs is Take Back the Night. This is a program that UTC does every year, because students love it. Usually at Take Back the Night, they have a speaker, who talks about their experiences with sexual assault and how they overcame their circumstances. This year, they decided to change it up and make an introduction video instead of having a speaker. The idea was to be student focused by allowing student’s to share their stories. I had the opportunity of making the video. It was one of the funniest projects I have ever done. This was my first real video project, so I was nervous. I think for one of my first times, it turned out well. I worked closely with Delaney and Lauren, the Women’s Center assistant director, to make this video perfect.

I wanted to attach the video below, so you guys could see. I was so happy with the end project. I loved filming and editing the video, so I want to invest more time in learning about photography and video.

Thanks for reading and checking out my video! I hope you have a wonderful day!
