Beginning of 2018 Music Favorites
As you guys can see, music is one of my favorite passions. Honestly, it is my number one passion, because I enjoy it so much. As a result, I want to bring more of my love of music to my blog. I am going to try and make more musical themed posts as well as the other things that I enjoy posting.
For this post, I wanted to keep it simple and tell y’all about some of the music I have been loving so far this year. These are some of the songs I was enjoying a lot more towards the beginning of the year, so January to March. Overall, there are so many amazing songs that have been released this year. There will be plenty to talk about. Here are some of my beginning of the year music favorites. (They are not in any particular order.)
Love Lies by Khalid and Normani
I fell in love with this song on the spot. It is so beautifully made. I love the vibe and the simplicity of the song. Also, they sound amazing together. I thought the music video was entertaining. Everything about this song is simple and wonderful.
Quit by Cashmere Cat, Ariana Grande
I actually discovered this song while watching a dance video. Jake Kodish made a choreographed dance to this song. While watching, I realized that I love the song. I like that it has a different vibe to it. Also, it is simple, but complex, which is very interesting. Overall, I thought it was a good song.
God’s Plan by Drake
Of course, we all know this song is amazing. I love the beat! The lyrics are great. In standard Drake fashion, there are meaningful lyrics that provide a message, but are also entertaining. The music video was literal perfection! I thought that was a great way to service the Miami community.
Ain’t No Way by Demi Lovato
This was one of Demi’s Spotify studio singles and it is such a great cover! She kept the music simple and allowed her voice to lead. Her voice sounds so stunning in this song. You can hear the emotion in each note. Honestly, I just love her.
Like I Do by David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and Brooks
I found this song in the global charts on Spotify. After listening to it, I decided that I liked it. I have heard stuff from each of these artists in different collaborations, so it was interesting to see them come together. I do not really know what it is about this song, but I enjoy it.
I Was Here and 1+1 by Beyoncé
I am not sure why, but I have been listening to Beyoncé’s 4 album again. It is just so good! These two songs have been my go to singing in the car songs. They have taken on a whole new meaning for me. The message as well as the simplicity that both these songs have is incredible.
All the Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA
I love this song so much! I am so happy for Kendrick and the Black Panther franchise. It is incredible that they were able to make such an influential and incredible piece of artwork. This song has a great message. Plus, both of them sound amazing on the song. The music video is so interesting and complex. SZA looks amazing as always.
IDGAF by Dua Lipa
Over time, I have been listening to more and more of her music. Her sound is so different from everyone else’s and that is what I like about her. She is very unique in her approach to music. On first listen, I did not think much about it. After listening to the lyrics, I was able to connect to it more. Also, I like her song New Rules, which is just a great song. It is an original take on a common problem, which is interesting to me, because that is what music is all about.
New Rule x Are You That Somebody? By Pentatonix
With Avi’s recent departure, I was patiently waiting on what was going to happen. Although I miss Avi, I have to say that I like the new bass singer, Matt. I think he brings something to the group that can only be described as different. I think this cover was amazing! The songs work together well, and I feel an R&B vibe that is different than normal. I think Kevin and Matt work well together, so I am excited to see what else they have in store.
Attention by Pentatonix
This is another recent cover that I have enjoyed by them. At first, it is pretty standard, but I think they make some interesting musical choices towards the end. It really pays off. The harmonization and personalization that they use at the end is enough to make me love the whole thing. The original song is already great, so it was like receiving an added bonus at the end.
My My My by Troye Sivan
Now, I love me a good Troye Sivan song and this song is no expectation. I can tell he had the best time making and creating this song. The music video was fun, and the vibe was relaxed. It was a nice chilled song and that is what I like most about it.
This is Me by Keala Settle, The Greatest Showman
I am so late the party, but this song is so amazing! She has such an incredible voice! This song is so inspirational and moving. I love every aspect of it. This is another great song to sing out in the car. I watched a live version of this song at The Oscar’s and it was amazing! I literally had this song on repeat for days.
Thanks so much for reading about some of the music I have been loving. Hopefully, you find something in the list that you will enjoy as well. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day!
