Story Time: I got a puppy!
Hey you guys, some things have been changing in my life recently. One of those things is I have a puppy!
Randomly, my roommate came to me and asked me about getting two puppies. It turned out a friend of a friend’s dogs had a 18 puppy litter, so they were trying to get rid of all the puppies. My roommate asked me if I wanted to get matching puppies with her. I figured why not. Of course, I thought about getting a puppy for awhile. I looked at the pros and cons. Although I had no prior plan to get a puppy, it felt like something I should do. In the end, I thought having a puppy had more pros than cons. A puppy could help with my mental health and give me that extra bit of responsibility and structure that I honestly need. Plus, the puppies were going to have to go to a shelter if they were not adopted, so I was happy to give two puppies a great new home.
We have two great dane mixes. They are from the same litter, so they are brother and sister. They are beautiful! I love them both so much!
The black and white is mine. Her name is Sora, after Kingdom Hearts. Then, the white and gray one is my roommate’s puppy. His name is Lector, named after Hannibal Lector. If you cannot tell, we picked out some interesting names.
At this point, we have had them for a little over two weeks. It has been an interesting time. We got them at roughly 5-6 weeks. Even in a week, we have been able to see them grow so much. They have gotten bigger and shown their personalities. In addition, they have been doing well with the training. They are mastering basic tricks very well. For the most part, they are doing good with the potty training. We only have one or two accidents a day, which I think is great for their age. With the potty training, it honestly depends on the day.
I just wanted to share the news and just reflect on it for a bit. I had a busy first week working a lot, which was not the best given the circumstances. This is one of the first times I am sitting and really thinking about the fact that my roommate and I have puppies now. Honestly, I am excited to see where this journey takes us. It was an interesting time to decide to get puppies, but I think they are going to add so much value and purpose to our lives.
Just know there will be many puppy posts to come! From updates to tips to hauls, I want to take you guys on this journey with me, so buckle up because it is all happening.
Thanks so much for reading my post! I hope you enjoyed the pictures of the puppies. Have a wonderful day!
