Movie Finds: Christmas Edition
Hey, welcome back to my site! With only 4 days to Christmas, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite Christmas movies. One of my favorite things to do during December is sit down with the family and watch a film. We always end our nights leading up to Christmas watching a movie. Without further ado, let’s get started.

1. The Polar Express
First, we have my favorite Christmas film of all time. This is a new classic that had me hooked from the first watch. My Mom, sister, and I always watch this movie on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Now, it holds a special place in my heart. In addition, I got to play the music in band during middle school. My band teacher made a mashup of all the songs from The Polar Express movie. I got to play the flute solo in When Christmas Comes to Town. It truly made my whole life. I practiced everyday. I even have the book. I know the movie tells an interesting story. It has some mysterious vibes, but it is a must watch. It truly highlights the magically feel that you can have during the holiday season if you just believe.

2. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas
This is truly a classic. There are so many versions of this story now. I love the Jim Carrey version and the original animated one. The recent animated film they put out was good too, but the other versions are incredible. The story is unique and relatable. I like the costuming and design of the live action movie. It was truly well done. Also, the soundtrack for the live action film was incredible. Where Are You Christmas by Faith Hill is a jam. It is not Christmas until I hear it. Also, the song Cindy Lou Who sings, Christmas, Why Can’t I Find You, hits you right in the heart every time. Of course, the Grinch’s song is so fun too. I like the lyrics and instrumentation throughout. The musical feel brings the song and movie to life. Also, Max is truly the main character. One of the best reindeer I have ever seen.

3. Eloise at Christmastime
This is another Christmas classic for my family. Honestly, I know a lot of people who have never heard of this film. It is from the series of Eloise. It is the Christmas version. It stars Julie Andrews and Sofia Vassilieva at The Plaza Hotel in New York. What a fun movie! The storyline is great. The relationship between Nanny and Eloise is so authentic and funny. The movie is mostly told from Eloise’s perspective, which brings the childlike wonder and imagination. There are still other storylines that intertwine well with each other. One of my favorite moments is at the end when they are singing around the piano. Also, I love when she is making her Christmas list. That was me with a hundred things on my list. I just wanted to give you options, so you had plenty to work with.
4. Mickey’s Once and Twice Upon a Christmas
These are two films that I always start the Christmas season off with. They put me in the Christmas spirit. I have watched these two movies since I was a kid. I still love them just as much. These two films tell 6 different stories with Donald, Goofy, and Mickey. These stories highlight different perspectives and challenges that can be faced during Christmas time. They include the whole Mickey Mouse crew telling 3 independent stories per movie that still intertwine together to bring some Christmas messages. The movie is wholesome and an easy watch. Honestly, I enjoy sitting down with my hot chocolate and putting up my Christmas decorations with these films on in the background.

5. The Santa Clause
Next, we have The Santa Clause with Tim Allen. This is actually my sister’s favorite Christmas film. My Mom, sister, and I always take an afternoon to marathon the The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, and The Santa Clause 3. Of course, the first film is the best. This is a fun story of an ordinary man having to take the responsibility of becoming Santa Claus after the original Santa Claus fell off his roof. In the movie, he is trying to rebuild his relationship with his son, Charlie. They are able to strengthen that bond as he goes back and forth on whether or not to become the new Santa Claus. The storyline is great and relatable. I think it tells a story that a lot of people have experienced. It adds a magical touch that pushes both children and adults to explore not only their imagination, but the idea of anything being possible. In this time, I think the ability to dream and be open minded is important and healthy. We are capable of doing anything. We just need to have faith.
6. Home Alone
Last but not least, we have Home Alone. If you have not heard of this movie, then you might be living under a rock. This film is truly a Christmas staple. Personally, I love the first and second film. They are both equally good to me. I always make sure to watch both at some point during the month of December. The storyline is incredible and so fun. It is adventurous. As a kid, it made me feel like I could take on the world. To this day, I like the cleverness and imagination the film has. That is something I want to keep forever.
